IPA President Named as Member of Touchstone
Discussion Board
Gregg M. Steinberg, President of IPA,
based in Buffalo Grove, Ill., was named as a member to the Touchstones Discussion
Board.
As part of his duties, Steinberg is a member of the Financial and Audit committee
which oversees the financial policies, accounting procedures, annual audit, and
internal controls of the organization. The committee also regularly monitors the
financial health of the organization. He is also a part of the Communications &
Marketing committee will work directly with staff to develop communications and
marketing strategy, and to advise on significant communications and marketing
efforts including catalogs, direct mail, annual report, and other significant
publications. They will advise on all marketing decisions requiring board approval.
Steinberg’s final role is with the Board Membership committee will work with the
Chairman and President to identify and interview board candidates and recommend
candidates to the entire Board of Directors. They will also assist new members
through the orientation period. This committee will monitor board composition and
identify strategies for strengthening the board and increasing the overall
effectiveness of the board of directors.
Steinberg joined IPA in 1992 and became its Chief
Financial Officer in 1995. He has been President since 1997. Civically, he has
been a board member of the Jewish Community Centers of Chicago and a past board
member and Chairman for various committees of the Jewish Council for Youth
Services. Currently, he is a member of Aspen Institute’s Middle East Strategy
Group, a member of the Midwest board of Operation Hope, Midwest chair for the
American Committee for the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of
Science (ACWIS) and a member of ACWIS’ national executive committee and is involved
in a leadership role with the Suburban Human Relations Commission.
The Touchstones Discussion Project is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based
in Annapolis, Maryland that was created by three tutors from St. John’s College.
These tutors saw first-hand the results of the college’s discussion-based
approach to instruction and recognized that learners of all ages could build
self-confidence, awareness and critical thinking skills by having access to
discussion-based learning and teaching. Today, Touchstones Discussions take
place across the United States in schools, workplaces, prisons and senior centers
