Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
In 2004, IPA Charities decided that their annual charitable golf outing should
benefit the many children living with Diabetes. By donating the funds raised to
the worthy cause of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), we have impacted
thousands of lives. Donations to JDRF have reached a total of more than $100,000
and we hope to far exceed the goal this year of $50,000 more
Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes strikes children suddenly, makes them dependent on
injected or pumped insulin for life and carries the constant threat of devastating
complications. While a diagnosis often occurs mostly in childhood, it can strike
adults as well.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International is the leading charitable
foundation and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. Their goal
is to find a cure for diabetes, and its complications, through the support of research.
Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded
more than $1 billion to diabetes research, including more than $122 million in FY2006.
More than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related
education. In FY2006, the Foundation funded 500 centers, grants and fellowships in 20
countries.
There are many ways that you can also support JDRF including: general donations, JDRF
membership, participate in any local ‘Walk to Cure Diabetes,’ donate your vehicle,
participate in any local ‘Ride to Cure Diabetes,’ volunteer to work with JDRF or become a
corporate partner. We hope that your join our mission to improve the lives of those living
with Type 1 Diabetes.
